I was living in Italy during the winter of 2017. I was an au pair, spending my afternoons playing with my host siblings, and my mornings walking around my small town, exploring different coffee bars, different alleyways. Coffee by Sylvan Esso was the soundtrack to my morning walks. Every time I listen to it now I remember what it felt like to be a stranger in a town that had welcomed me like family, one cappuccino at a time.
